French leather (one entire goat skin as from the factory in France). Stretched over Vic Ash timber stretcher bars. Leather made in France, timber stretcher bars made in Melbourne, Australia, Aluminum button made in Tasmania, Australia and the overall work constructed in Sydney Australia. 

This is a sculpture/work of art, in many ways it's an embodiment of Matthew's design philosophy of pushing the limits and not staying within the bounds of conventional thinking. The only conventional aspect is the timber frame. This is to allow the viewer to relate it to artwork on canvas and not something non-related to hanging wall art. Matthew has previously had a fashion label and will have another in the coming month's'/years. An aspect of his activity in design is working with leather hand crafting handbags and other leather products. Designing with leather has made this not so conventional wall art an almost logical step . This really is a meshing of his art and design pursuits. The work is imposing, eye catching and a real statement of creativity and a will to push the limits of conventional art. Despite the size the work commands attention and draws in it's surroundings. This exact work will not be repeated and is a one of one. Yes we will work in this size and potentially this leather but this work is a one one and not made from a template. Each work within the "original" series will be one of one and not made to spec. The "net-a-porter" series are made to spec and are copies of each other.
